Open a DWG file online, without CAD software
Someone sent you a drawing as a DWG and you don’t have the software to open it. Carrosse opens it in your browser: see the drawing, measure it, hide layers, print it to PDF. Free, no account, and the file never leaves your computer.
How it works
- Open Carrosse
in your browser, at app.carrosse.ca.
- Drop your DWG file
on the page, or use File › Import DWG.
- The drawing appears
as a new document, with its layers, dimensions and blocks. A summary lists what was read and, if anything, what was not.
What you can do with the drawing
- Read it properlyzoom, pan, turn layers on and off, dimensions shown as drawn.
- Measuredistances and areas right on the drawing.
- Change itCarrosse is a 2D drafting program, not just a viewer. Add lines, dimensions, text.
- Print it to PDFor save it as DXF or as .rcad, Carrosse’s own format.
What Carrosse does not do: save as DWG. DWG comes in; it does not go out.
Your drawings stay with you
The file is read by your browser, on your computer. It is not uploaded, it goes through no server, and nobody but you sees it.
Your browser keeps a copy for you, in its own storage: reload the page and the drawing is still there. That copy leaves your computer no more than the file does.
Close the browser tab and nothing of it remains with us.

Which DWG files are read
Compatible with DWG files from 2000 to 2026 (AC1015 through AC1032).
DWG files written since 2018 all use the same format, AC1032, so a file from a current CAD program opens like any other.
Lines, arcs, circles, polylines, ellipses, splines, text and multiline text, hatches, blocks with attributes, linear, aligned, radius, diameter and angular dimensions, layers, linetypes. The file’s units are kept, millimetres and feet-inches alike.
Not read yet: layouts (paper space), multileaders and 3D objects. They are counted in the summary at opening, never dropped silently.
What people ask
Do I need CAD software?
No. Carrosse reads the DWG itself. No other software is required.
Is this a free DWG viewer?
Yes, and more: you can also measure, edit and print. Free for now, no account.
Can I convert a DWG to PDF or DXF?
Yes. Open the DWG, then print to PDF or save as DXF.
Is my file sent anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
The file comes from a recent CAD program. Is that a problem?
No. DWG files written since 2018 use the AC1032 format, and Carrosse reads it.
Does it work on a phone?
It opens, but 2D drafting is far better with a mouse and a large screen.
